The Clients on this project wished to expand the existing living accommodation on the ground floor, whilst integrating two existing outbuildings, to create a courtyard garden and a studio space, to enable one of the Clients to work from home.
Whilst considering the design, it was necessary to take into account its proximity to a Conservation Area and to attempt to maintain the integrity of the property, whilst meeting the requirements of both the Clients and the Local Authority.
The existing front door was accessed from within the garden, via a full height gate in the surrounding fence. This therefore needed to be left unlocked at all times, posing a security issue. The extension was designed to include a front door to the street elevation, with an entrance lobby to welcome visitors, whilst protecting the privacy of the living accommodation when directing Clients to the Studio area.
This project was drawn in 3D, including a walkthrough, to allow the Client the best opportunity to visualise the completed design.
